This 1977 Double Red Sea-Dweller is an excellent example of a rare bird that was used as per its intention by design!
This one has actually lived the life. The original owner (Hugh McManus as per papers and original invoice) was a deep-sea diver, who used it as intended until it was purchased off him by a dealer.
Case and bezel: The stainless steel case presents in worn but original condition, with natural marks and light hairlines throughout, as what you’d expect from a piece of this age that has seen the depths. The crown guards remain strong, and helium escape valve is present and defined. The bidirectional bezel shows light wear/fade and turns as it should.
Movement, dial, and crystal: Powered by the Cal. 1575 automatic with date, running well and keeping good time. This one has a RSC service receipt from 2003, and was recently done privately. The matte “Double Red” dial presents beautifully, with warm tritium patina, and the hands match perfectly. The domed acrylic crystal displays the dial clearly and is in excellent condition.
Bracelet/strap: The original bracelet is fitted with light stretch and some visible scratching.
